palm tree

there's a palm tree
next to my house.
alongside the driveway
it stands,
leaning to the street
it grows
reaching for the sun.

it longs to soar
among the clouds
i know
and frolic in the summer sun
i feel.
bent and ugly is its middle
tall and beautiful its future.
